"Tummy Time" Baby Photography Session
Takes place around 3-5 months of age
All about your "Tummy Time" Baby Photography Session
“Tummy Time” Baby Photography Sessions are typically scheduled between 3-5 months of age. This session is very popular with parents that have unfortunately missed out on their Newborn Photography Session, celebrating their baby’s “Hundred Days” or as part of their “Baby’s First Year” package.
3-5 months old babies are so much more alert and responsive as they get older. They react to expressions and smile so easily at this stage. They can lie on their tummies and support their heads comfortably. I like to photograph your baby on their back for the first part of the session. We lie baby down on a soft fluffy flokati with textured blankets to ensure they are comfortable and happy. As babies of this age are responsive to sounds, it’s easy to get them to look directly at the camera. Shaking a toy in front of them often evokes adorable expressions and priceless smiles.
We have a wide range of fluffy flokati rugs in different shades and colours and soft textured blankets to lay your baby on for their “tummy time” Baby Photography Session. We also have a range of clothing, hats and headbands for your baby to use during their “tummy time” baby photography session.
“Tummy time” sessions take place during such a beautiful time in your baby’s first year. Your baby is becoming more aware and interested in what’s going on in the world around them!
When should I book my Baby Photography Session?
There is no wrong time to photograph your baby, it’s so important to get those priceless professional photographs during your babies first year. However I do suggest either doing the “Tummy Time” session (3-5 months of age), the sitter session (7-10 months of age) or the one-year-old session (10-12 months of age)
When will my baby be ready for a “Tummy Time” Baby Photography Session?
The “Tummy Time” Baby Photography Session usually takes place when your baby is around 3-5 months old, depending on their development. All babies develop at different stages during their first year. We do advise our clients to book your session well in advance of this stage to secure a booking. We will schedule in a tentative date before hand and confirm a date for your baby’s session when your baby can support their head while lying on their tummy. It is important that your baby can confidently lie on their tummy and comfortably supporting their head while looking around during tummy time.
What should my baby wear during their Baby Photography Session?
We have a variety of outfits for both boys and girls to wear during their Baby Photography Session. We also have matching accessories, hats and headbands to match the little outfits.
Can I include my family in my “Tummy Time” Baby Photography Session?
Of course family can be included, in-fact we encourage the family (Mum, Dad & Siblings) to hop in and have some portraits taken towards the end of the session. The main focus of your session will be primarily on your baby.
How long will my Baby Photography Session take?
A baby “Tummy Time” photography sessions usually takes about an hour and a half. If you’re including your family, it can take a little bit longer.
